Task Popper ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
1. Introduction
Task Popper is a productivity tool designed to help you break down complex tasks into manageable steps using Artificial Intelligence (AI). We prioritize your privacy and have designed our App to minimize data collection. We do not require user accounts, ensuring that your usage remains as private as possible.
2. Information We Collect
We collect and process the following types of information:
2.1. Device and Security Information
To ensure the security of our service and prevent abuse (such as exceeding usage limits), we use Apple DeviceCheck.
- What we collect: A cryptographic token generated by your device and a non-reversible hash ("DeviceHash") derived from it.
- Purpose: To verify that requests come from a legitimate Apple device and to enforce daily usage limits (Rate Limiting).
- Storage: The DeviceHash is stored in our secure servers (Redis/Database). It cannot be used to identify you personally or track you across other apps.
2.2. User-Generated Content (Inputs)
- What we collect: The text descriptions of tasks you input into the App for decomposition ("User Input").
- Purpose: To generate task steps using our AI models.
- Storage: User Inputs are processed in memory and transmitted securely to our AI providers. They are not persistently stored on our servers after the response is generated, with the exception of temporary logs for error debugging which are automatically purged.
2.3. Purchase Information
- What we collect: Information about your "Lifetime Pro" purchase status.
- Processing: All financial transactions are handled directly by Apple via the App Store. We do not process or store your credit card information. We only receive a transaction receipt to validate your purchase and unlock features.
2.4. Local Data
- What we collect: Your usage history (generated task lists) and settings (e.g., Dark Mode preference).
- Storage: This data is stored locally on your device (using SwiftData/UserDefaults). It is not uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share it (e.g., via feedback email).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Service: Process your task descriptions and return decomposed steps.
- Ensure Security: Authenticate "DeviceCheck" tokens to block bots and unauthorized clients.
- Enforce Fair Use: Monitor usage counts via DeviceHash to apply daily limits for free users.
- Compliance: Screen User Input for illegal or harmful content as required by local regulations.
4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following third-party service providers necessary to operate the App:
| Provider | Service | Data Shared | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google (Gemini) / OpenAI | AI Model API | User Input (Text) | To generate task breakdown steps. |
| Apple Inc. | DeviceCheck / iCloud | Device Token | To verify device integrity and handle purchases. |
Note: Our AI providers are contractually obligated to not use your data for training their models without consent.
5. Data Retention
- User Inputs: We do not retain your task inputs on our servers. They are discarded immediately after processing.
- DeviceHash: Retained as long as necessary to enforce rate limits and security policies.
- Local Data: You can delete your local history at any time by uninstalling the App or deleting items within the App.
6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access & Portability: Since we do not have user accounts, your data is primarily stored on your device. You have full access to it within the App.
- Deletion: You can delete your local data by deleting the App. For server-side DeviceHash, as it is not linked to your identity, we cannot "delete" it upon request as we cannot identify which hash belongs to you, but it contains no personal information.
- Rectification: You can modify your settings within the App.
To exercise these rights, or if you have privacy concerns, please contact us at [email protected].
7. Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
